Aroma: Tearing open the bag, we were greeted with scents of chocolate wafer, rich chocolate ganache, brownie batter, and an undercurrent of mixed berries, including blueberry, blackberry, and cherry. Baking spices emerged on the grind, along with cocoa powder, cocoa nibs, warmed dark drinking chocolate. The pour offered Apple butter, caramel, and orange marmalade.
Flavor Profile: The sip arrives mid-to-high on the palate, with medium-to-full body. Hugging the roof of the mouth while remaining on the front half of the tongue it delivers soft aromatics of toasted almond and pecan, as well as caramel, alongside a slightly viscous fruit-forward note of blueberry, blackberry, melon, plum, peach, and baked apple. The sides of the tongue receive rounded orange and a hint of lemon juice. The finish is soft, measured, and balanced, with baked apple pie leading the way and cinnamon following.
Overall Impression (What did you think of it? Anything else we should know?): A great cup for winter weekend mornings or anytime you want a balanced, slightly sweet sipper, we consider ourselves lucky to have had the opportunity to try this coffee from West Union, Iowa, and we consider the folks who live near Euphoria lucky to have them nearby, too. True to its name, the Fruit & Praline brought the aforementioned flavors, along with a few extra in tow. We recommend picking up a bag!
