Review #130: Ceremony Coffee Roasters

Name of Roaster: Ceremony Coffee Roasters

Location of Roaster (City, State, Country): Annapolis, MD

Name of Roast: Thesis

Type of Roast (Light, Medium, Dark): Medium Origin of Beans: Colombia and Guatemala

Price: $15 (12 oz.) Brewing Method (Drip, Chemex, AeroPress, etc.): Chemex Time Between Purchase and Brewing (Ballpark is fine): Six days Aroma: Opening the bag, we noted rich chocolate chip cookies, brownie batter, Cocoa Puffs, rich chocolate frosting, hot cocoa with marshmallows. The grind brought a bright berry mix - raspberry, blackberry, apple - along with crisp brownie crust and cocoa nibs. On the pour, rich brown sugar, pure cane sugar, caramel and nougat showed.

Flavor Profile: The first sip had a mid-palate entry with medium weight that hung in the middle of the tongue. Soft and sweet, with notes of honey, caramel, molasses, chocolate, nougat, and cane sugar, and slightly viscous, the sip enveloped the tongue in a full and even mouthfeel. We detected a slight sharpness on the tip of the tongue, as well as the sides, calling to mind mandarin orange and lime, but it melds into the center easily. The finish was smooth.

Overall Impression (What did you think of it? Anything else we should know?): We thoroughly enjoyed this blend and would call it one of the best house blends we have tried. The coffee mixed with milk well and paired with pancakes butter and syrup like a champ. If you're looking for a crowd pleaser with an elevated complexity, this is a great option.

Final Score (1-10, with 10 being the best cup of coffee in your life): 8.1 Where to Buy: Ceremony Coffee Roasters
